Itinerary

Headin from Tirana to Kruja

Be ready to leave Tirana at 8:30 and in less than 1-hour drive we will reach the City of Kruja. The first stop will be, the Traditional Bazaar of Kruja. It resembles an old carnival where friendly locals invite you to have a look in their handicrafts. It is a vibrant mosaic of traditional motives, colors and warm hospitality. We will be welcomed in a local family Bar for a short break where we will have the chance to see how the locals had made their life in years.

Visit to Kruja Castle

We will make our way uphill, toward the Castle of Kruja. It is the Stronghold Symbol of the Albanian Resistance during the Ottoman Invasion. The 25 years war was successfully lead by the Albanian National Hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu. The same castle has been the center of the first Albanian state, “Principata e Arberit”, since the XII Century.
In our tour to the castle, we will be able to visit some of the Bektashi Tekke, Turkish Hamman, the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Scanderbeg.

The Ethnographic Museum

Located in a Unique House of XVII Century this museum resembles the vibrance of the lifestyle in the city of Kruja and the surroundings. Divided into two main stores it is a lively scene of the life inside the house of Albanian families but also the handicrafts, agriculture and more.

The Skanderbeg Museum

Dedicated to the glorious figure of Skanderbeg, this museum sends us back in history and through historic dates and facts, we will try to understand the importance of his figure. Build in the Albanian Communist Days this museum is also influenced and indoctrinated by the dictated style of the Communist Party.

Sari Saltic Cave

For those who like a mystic, holy places the Sari Saltic Cave is the place to be. Since the 14th century, it has been a place when thousands of pilgrims do their rituals. There are plenty of histories and miracles that show its power but have only one way to feel it, visiting.

Solo Traveller

Amazing tour of Albania!
I flew alone from London to Tirana over a bank holiday weekend and had a three-day custom tour package that Andi put together. He coordinated everything from airport pick up / drop off, amazing local food options, and a perfect mix of culture / history / nature – I couldn’t have felt more relaxed and enriched.

Andi has a great sense of humour, is reliable and professional, and holds a wealth of knowledge of Albanian history and culture. I really felt like Andi made sure I got the most out of my stay, and can’t stress enough how safe and fun Albania is (yes, even for women traveling solo!). Even during election season the streets were lively, people friendly, and I felt right at home.

On my tour we did Kruja, Sari Salltik, BunkArt, Pogradec and Lake Ohrid, Berat, and a number of other small stops along the way. I learned a lot and by the end of the weekend felt like I’d been hanging out with an old friend. Highly, highly recommend!

Go as Local in Kruja
After a Cooking Class in Tirana, we booked another Day Trip in Kruja with Go as Local.
Andi and Mario made sure we fully enjoyed the day. Very knowledgeable and funny.
Apart from the castle we also visited a kind of Holly cave or something that we found very interesting and important for the locals. Was our first time hearing about that religion.
Thank you guys for an amazing day !
