Tour Details

The main aim of this Cooking Class is to combine the typical Albanian welcome, local food and some of the most interesting traditional local “rules” that will make your experience unique and unforgettable.

In addition, during the cooking class, you will be thought to create from scratch some of the most unique Albanian dishes. All of this in good company and good local wine and drinks.  

In this cooking class, you will be tough to nicely prepare “Tave Kosi” the most iconic Albanian Dish, known as “Independence Dish” since it was the most favorite dish of Ismail Qemali, Albanian first Prime Minister. 

“Lakror” is also the Albanian version of Byrek. Very special and of course delicious. You will also learn how to prepare a delicious homemade byrek

In addition, traditional desserts will be also part of the cooking class and the tour also includes some homemade appetizers, beverages, and good wine and Raki. 

Since it is a Family-based tour you will be lead in the cooking class by my sister, a non-professional chef but talented 🙂 

Furthermore, some of the recipes are passed in the family between generations. 

We try our best to pick up Bio – Organic Ingredients, starting from our garden herbs and veggies to homemade wine and Raki, offering to our guest above all the real Local Taste of Albania

  1. Home made “Lakror”. All the guests will participate in prepareing their own “Lakror”. In the end of the tour everyone will know how to cook one like a real chef. 
  2. Tave Kosi – Everyone will prepare from scratch the most authentic Albanian Dish. It is also named like the flag of Albanian Culinary. 
  3. Traditional Desserts – Learn how to prepare a delicious Albanian dessert.

  6. Preparing and tasting of “Raki e Pjekur”, an authentic drink for the cold days of winter. Used widely for curing flu and cold

Itinerary

Cooking Classes in Tirana Detailed Tour

After a warm welcome, typical for Albania, the tour starts with a traditional regale of jam and raki. Back in the days in the Albanian homes was the obligation of the youngest bride or daughter in the house to welcome guests.
After that In the first minutes our chef will explain and introduce to the main ingredients and dishes that will be prepared.
The first dish is one of the most famous Albanian and Balkans dish, byrek. Differently from the Balkans this dish comes from the South East of Albania and is prepared only in 2 layers where the fill sits in the middle. In addition there are plenty of ways to prepare the inside part. Depended on the season starting from fresh plants, vegetables, ground beef and dairy products.
Secondly comes “Tave Kosi”.
It is on of the most typical main dishes, found only in Albania. It is a mouthwatering mix of yogurt and lamp. The rest is to be discovered…
And of course finally to be discovered and taste will be the dessert. For instance very unique in way of preparing and flavor.
The second part of the tours walk through the history and product tasting when you will have the chance to taste some of the most unique Albanian drinks, all of them with a lot of story and legends behinds.
