Itinerary
Balkan Tour - Albania, North Macedonia & Kosovo

Day 1 Tirana - Durres - Berat

Departure from Tirana at 09:00 and drive toward Durrës, one of Albania’s oldest cities, located on the Adriatic coast. Known as an “Open Book of History”, Durrës reflects 25 centuries of civilization. Founded as a Greek colony, the city has witnessed many glorious moments throughout its long history — many of which can still be seen today.

City tour of Durrës, including visits to the Roman Amphitheater, the Medieval Market, and other historical sites.

After exploring Durrës, we continue our journey toward Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Often referred to as the “City of a Thousand Windows”, Berat is a perfect example of Ottoman architecture with a blend of cultural influences. With over 2,000 years of history, it stands as a true mosaic of civilizations.

City tour of Berat, exploring its three historic neighborhoods: Kala, Mangalem, and Gorica. Visits include the Orthodox Monastery “Dormition of Saint Mary” and the “Onufri” Museum of Iconography.

Optional: Wine tasting at a local winery in Berat – €20 per person.

Day 2Berat - Sarande - Butrint - Gjirokaster

After breakfast, we leave Berat and head south toward Saranda, a vibrant coastal city on the Albanian Riviera. Known for its turquoise waters and scenic views, Saranda offers a brief but unforgettable stop to enjoy the seaside atmosphere.

After a short break in Saranda, we continue to the Archaeological Park of Butrint — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Albania’s most important archaeological site. Once a Greek colony and later a Roman city, Butrint has been inhabited since prehistoric times and holds ruins from multiple civilizations.

En route, enjoy panoramic views of the famous Three Islands of Ksamil — one of the most breathtaking sights along the Ionian coast.

Following the visit to Butrint, we return to Saranda for lunch before continuing our journey toward Gjirokastra.

Day 3Gjirokaster - Permet - Pogradec

In the morning, we explore Gjirokastra — a UNESCO World Heritage Site often called “The Stone City.” Described by renowned Albanian writer Ismail Kadare as a city unlike any other, Gjirokastra is known for its grey stone rooftops, cobblestone alleys, and fortress-style houses that seem frozen in time.

City tour of Gjirokastra, walking through its historic neighborhoods and visiting key landmarks such as the Gjirokastra Castle and the Ottoman-era bazaar.

After lunch, we depart for the charming town of Përmet, nestled in the Vjosa River Valley and known for its natural beauty, thermal waters, and warm hospitality. We’ll enjoy a scenic drive through the mountainous landscape with an optional short stop in Përmet for coffee or sightseeing.

From Përmet, we continue our journey northeast to Pogradec, a lakeside town on the shores of Lake Ohrid.

Day 4Pogradec - Ohrid - Skopje

After breakfast in Pogradec, we cross the border into North Macedonia and arrive in Ohrid — one of the most picturesque and culturally rich cities in the Balkans. Often referred to as the “Jerusalem of the Balkans,” Ohrid is renowned for its stunning lakeside setting and its blend of history, culture, and spirituality.

City tour of Ohrid, including visits to Samuil’s Fortress, the Church of St. Sophia, and the Ancient Greek Theater. We’ll also explore the charming Old Town, the local market, and the lower part of the city near the lakefront.

After the tour, we drive to Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, known for its mix of Ottoman, Byzantine, and modern influences.

Day 5Skopje - Matka Canyon - Pristina - Prizren

We begin the day with a short drive to **Matka Canyon**, one of North Macedonia’s most stunning natural attractions. The canyon is known for its steep cliffs, turquoise waters, and hidden caves. Optional: enjoy a short boat ride to Vrelo Cave or take a relaxing walk along the canyon trail.

After our visit to Matka, we head toward **Pristina**, the capital of Kosovo. A brief city tour will give you insight into this fast-developing capital, with stops at landmarks such as the **Newborn Monument**, **Mother Teresa Square**, and the **National Library of Kosovo**.

From Pristina, we continue to **Prizren** — one of the most charming and historic cities in the region. With its cobbled streets, Ottoman-era mosques and churches, and traditional architecture, Prizren offers a rich cultural experience.

Day 6Prizren - Shkoder

After breakfast in Prizren, we depart for Shkodër, one of Albania’s oldest and most historic cities. Known as the gateway to the Albanian Alps, Shkodër boasts a rich cultural heritage, vibrant markets, and stunning architecture.

Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour that includes visits to the Rozafa Fortress, the Marubi National Museum of Photography, and the historic pedestrian street, Mesi Bridge, along with the lively city center.

Day 7Shkoder - Kruje - Tirane

We leave Shkodër and travel to Krujë, a historic town known for its castle and as the center of Albanian resistance during the Ottoman period. Explore the Krujë Castle, the Skanderbeg Museum, and the traditional bazaar, where you can find authentic Albanian crafts and souvenirs.

After the visit to Krujë, we drive back to Tirana, the capital of Albania, concluding our tour.
