Balkan Peaks: 5-Day Hiking Adventure in the Accursed Mountains:

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Tirana, heading toward the beautiful northern region of Albania. Our first stop is Shkoder, one of the oldest and largest cities in Albania. Known for its rich history, Shkoder is home to numerous cultural landmarks, including the iconic Rozafa Castle, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and Lake Shkoder. Here, we will take a short tour of the city and explore its charming streets before continuing on our journey.

After our time in Shkoder, we will head to the village of Lepushe, nestled in the Kelmend region, known for its majestic mountain views, crystal-clear rivers, and rural beauty. This village, located in the Albanian Highlands, is the perfect starting point for our hiking adventure.

Upon arrival in Lepushe, you will check into a traditional guesthouse, where you will experience the warmth and hospitality of the local people. After settling in, we will embark on our first short hike, which will take us through lush valleys and past pristine waterfalls. The 2-hour hike is easy-going, allowing you to become familiar with the area’s stunning natural beauty. We will also visit the Bashkimi Canyon and the Waterfall of Kelmend, which offer a perfect introduction to the landscapes of the Albanian Alps.

On the second day, we will set out on a more challenging hike to the stunning Vajusha Peak. This moderate-level trek is perfect for those looking to experience the true beauty of the Albanian Alps. The hike takes you through alpine meadows, lush forests, and rugged terrain, as we gradually ascend toward the summit.

Vajusha Peak is located on the border between Albania and Montenegro, offering unparalleled panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. On clear days, the views stretch as far as the distant peaks of Montenegro, providing a truly unforgettable experience. As we hike to the top, take in the breathtaking landscapes and the quiet serenity that surrounds you.

After reaching the summit and enjoying the incredible views, we will begin our descent toward the village of Vusanje, a tranquil settlement known for its isolation and peaceful atmosphere. The village is a perfect spot to relax and unwind, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.

In the evening, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a hearty traditional Albanian meal and experience the hospitality of the local community.

On the third day, we will embark on a scenic and invigorating hike from Vusanje to Theth. This journey takes you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Albanian Alps. Along the way, you’ll pass through lush meadows, crystal-clear rivers, and dense forests, with plenty of opportunities to capture the beauty of the natural surroundings.

The village of Theth is one of Albania’s most famous destinations, known for its traditional stone houses, the iconic Lock-In Tower, and its stunning natural beauty. The village is surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Albanian Alps, and its remote location makes it feel like a hidden gem. Upon arrival in Theth, you will have time to explore the village, visit the Lock-In Tower, and hike to the Blue Eye of Theth, a stunning natural spring known for its vibrant blue water.

This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of the region, as Theth has a long history of being a safe haven for local families. The peaceful atmosphere and the impressive landscapes make Theth a magical place to spend the night.

On the fourth day, we will hike from Theth to Valbona, a route that offers some of the most spectacular views of the entire tour. This challenging hike takes you through lush valleys, along rushing rivers, and past several waterfalls, including the famous Grunas Waterfall. As you hike through the forested trails, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, creating a perfect finale to your adventure.

Upon reaching Valbona, you will check into a traditional guesthouse or lodge for the night. Here, you can relax and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful alpine village, nestled between towering peaks. After settling in, you will have some free time to explore the surrounding area and take in the breathtaking scenery.

On the final day of your adventure, you will have the opportunity to explore more of Valbona. The village is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, and there are several short hiking options to discover nearby viewpoints or waterfalls, allowing you to immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the region.

After exploring Valbona, we will depart for Koman, where we will board a scenic boat ride across the Koman Lake, renowned for its dramatic, fjord-like landscape. This boat journey provides an unforgettable experience, with stunning views of towering cliffs and lush green surroundings.

Following the boat ride, we will continue our drive back to Tirana, passing through picturesque landscapes of the Albanian Alps as we make our way to the capital. Upon arriving in Tirana in the evening, the tour will conclude, leaving you with lasting memories of the stunning Albanian Alps and the warmth of its people.
