Christmas Day in Kosovo! As a veteran of the Balkan Wars with NATO, I wanted to see how Kosovo was faring. This is the trip for that and Xhuha is the guide to do it. He knows his history too! We had heavy snow that day, but it made the adventure that much better. Highly recommend— bring additional heavy boots and clothes if it’s winter, just in case.

Day trip to the “Lake Como” of the Balkans! A great solo trip, where I discovered the beauty of Lake Ohrid and this city. Endri was an excellent guide. Although the trip is long, the views are stunning! Endri knows his history too! Worth every penny!

Amazing cooking class experience Super nice cooking class! We enjoyed every bit of it. Drinks including especially a lot of good self-made red wine. Very kind instructor who helped us a lot, also to get to know the Albanian (food) culture.

Brilliant home cookery class with Sindi 👍 A brilliant afternoon of cooking, learning and making new friends with Sindi in her Tirana home. Sindi made everyone immediately welcome and shared her knowledge of Albanian cooking, wine, language and history throughout the class. Awesome home produced wine and raki too. Enjoyable and rewarding... best home cookery class I've done ! Thanks Sindi 😎.

Great experience with Go as Local! I had an incredible experience with this transfer from Tirana to Skopje, stopping in the beautiful city of Ohrid. Traveling alone, I was impressed by how the Go as Local team customized the journey to suit my preferences, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the culture. Quick but efficient 3 days tour We booked a private tour and it was just amazing. From the communication with the office, hotel selection and the tour guide guide! Endri, our guide was a very passionate young men who really lived his country and his job. The only suggestion, maybe a longer version as this tour is quite fast and we get to change hotel every night, but you also get to see a lot.

Itinerary

1Welcome at Tirana Cooking Class – Go As Local

Your experience begins at our cozy Go As Local cooking studio, just a few steps from Skanderbeg Square.
Here, your guide welcomes you with a small selection of homemade Albanian delicacies — fresh bread, local cheese, seasonal jams, and olive oil. It’s the perfect introduction to Albanian hospitality before we gear up for our cycling adventure.
While you enjoy your snacks, you’ll get a short introduction to the tour plan and some fun insights into Tirana’s creative scene and how street art has reshaped the city’s image.

2Skanderbeg Square – The Heartbeat of Tirana

Our first ride takes us to Skanderbeg Square, the grand centerpiece of Tirana. Surrounded by landmarks like the National Museum, Et’hem Bey Mosque, and Clock Tower, this square reflects the city’s blend of history, architecture, and modern art.
Your guide will share stories of how this area has evolved — from the communist era to today’s lively cultural hub filled with open-air events and public art installations.

3New Boulevard – Urban Transformation & Murals

Cycling north, we reach the New Boulevard, a symbol of Tirana’s urban renewal. Here, old industrial structures like the abandoned train carriage and Soviet-era tank have been transformed into massive graffiti pieces by local and international artists. These vibrant murals carry themes of freedom, resistance, and rebirth — perfect for street art photography lovers.

4New Bazaar (Pazari i Ri) – A Splash of Color

Our next stop is the New Bazaar, one of Tirana’s most dynamic neighborhoods. Once a traditional market, it’s now a lively mosaic of colorful facades, street murals, and local shops.
We’ll stop here for a short coffee break, where you can enjoy Albania’s strong espresso or Turkish-style coffee surrounded by the market’s buzz.

5Tirana Castle – Art Behind Ancient Walls

A short ride brings us to Tirana Castle, one of the city’s oldest surviving structures. Inside, modern art galleries, boutique shops, and cozy wine bars contrast with the centuries-old stone walls.
It’s a great spot to see how Tirana embraces the new without forgetting its past — where art, history, and everyday life meet.

6Pyramid of Tirana – The Symbol of Change

The iconic Pyramid of Tirana is our next highlight. Once a communist monument, it now stands as a powerful example of urban transformation. Its outer walls are covered with murals by Albanian and international artists, making it one of the most photogenic and meaningful sites in the city.

7Blloku District – From Secret Zone to Creative Hub

We then ride through Blloku, Tirana’s trendiest neighborhood. Once restricted to the communist elite, it’s now filled with lively bars, modern street art, and creative energy.
Here you’ll find some of the city’s most famous murals, often depicting themes of identity, freedom, and modern life. Your guide will share insights about how this district became the heartbeat of Tirana’s nightlife and art scene.

8Lake Park (Parku i Madh) – Green Escape

Our final ride leads us into Tirana’s Grand Park, a lush green oasis that offers a peaceful break from the city streets. Enjoy the views of the artificial lake, snap your last photos, and take a deep breath of fresh air before we wrap up our adventure.

9Return to Go As Local – Tirana Cooking Class

Our journey ends where it began — back at the Go As Local cooking studio.
After exploring Tirana’s most vibrant neighborhoods and murals, we’ll return for a short wrap-up and a chance to relax. You can share your favorite moments with the group, enjoy a refreshing drink, or ask your guide for local tips and recommendations for the rest of your stay.
It’s the perfect way to end a morning or afternoon filled with color, creativity, and connection.
