4 Day Tour of Albania North to South – Nature & Culture

Journey to Theth & Natural Wonders
We’ll begin our adventure by heading north from Tirana toward the stunning Albanian Alps, making our way to Theth. This remote mountain village is known for its breathtaking landscapes and untouched nature.

Once in Theth, we’ll explore two of its most iconic natural attractions. A scenic hike will take us to the Blue Eye of Theth, a crystal-clear natural spring with vibrant turquoise water surrounded by lush greenery. We’ll also visit Grunas Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Albania, cascading down from the mountains into a refreshing pool below. These spots offer a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility in the heart of nature.

Continue to Shkodra & City Exploration
After our time in Theth, we’ll continue our journey to Shkodra, one of Albania’s most historic and culturally rich cities.

In Shkodra, we’ll enjoy a relaxed walking tour through the city center, exploring its charming streets and the lively Pedonale area. Known for its unique atmosphere and cultural diversity, Shkodra offers a blend of history, art, and everyday local life.

We’ll end the day with an overnight stay in Shkodra, where you can unwind and experience the city’s warm hospitality.

Departure from Shkodra & Journey South
We’ll begin the day by departing from Shkodra and heading south through Albania’s diverse landscapes, making our way toward the coast.

Durrës: Seaside Charm and Roman History (Optional Stop)
Our first stop can be in Durrës, one of Albania’s oldest and most vibrant coastal cities along the Adriatic Sea. Here, you’ll have time to enjoy fresh seafood by the seaside and, during warmer months, take a refreshing swim in the clear waters.

We’ll also take a relaxing walk along the main promenade, soaking in the lively atmosphere. A highlight of the visit is the Durrës Amphitheatre, a remarkable 2nd-century landmark that offers insight into the city’s rich Roman past.

Berat: UNESCO Heritage and Spiritual Insights
After Durrës, we’ll continue our journey to Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage city famously known as the “City of a Thousand Windows.”

During our city tour, we’ll explore the historic Berat Castle, still inhabited today and offering stunning views over the city. We’ll also visit the Dormition of St. Mary Church, home to the renowned Onufri Iconographic Museum, which showcases masterpieces by Albania’s most famous icon painter, Onufri.

We’ll end the day with an overnight stay in Berat, where you can relax and experience the unique charm and warm hospitality of this historic city.

Llogara Pass & Dhermi: Scenic Drive and Coastal Beauty

We’ll begin our journey through Llogara Pass, offering stunning views of lush greenery and the Albanian Ionian Coast. As we drive along, we’ll pass through picturesque villages like Dhermi, known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and traditional stone architecture. Dhermi is perfect for a mix of relaxation and entertainment.

Himara, Porto Palermo & Saranda: History and Coastal Relaxation

Next, we head to Himara, a coastal town with a beautiful beach promenade and the historic Himara Castle. From there, we’ll visit Porto Palermo, home to Ali Pasha Castle and a fascinating submarine base from the 1960s.

Our final stop is Saranda, famous for its stunning beaches, Albanian-Greek cuisine, and lively atmosphere. After a day of exploration, we’ll spend the night in Saranda, enjoying the city’s coastal charm.

Gjirokaster: The Stone City

Next, we head to Gjirokaster, a city with a unique blend of history and architecture. Known for its Ottoman-era stone houses, Gjirokaster has a timeless charm that has captivated visitors for centuries.

During our city tour, we’ll visit the Bazaar, the imposing Gjirokaster Castle, and a typical house to experience life as it once was. With narrow cobblestone streets and stunning views, Gjirokaster is a fascinating place that offers a true glimpse into Albania’s past.

End of Tour: Returning to Tirana

After exploring Gjirokaster, we’ll return to Tirana, bringing an unforgettable journey through Albania’s natural wonders and rich history to a close.
