Itinerary
Tour of North Macedonia and Kosovo from Tirana

Day 1Tirana - Ohrid - Skopje

According to UNESCO, the town of Ohrid is one of the oldest human settlements in Europe. It lies on the shores of Ohrid Lake, one of the oldest lakes in the world. For centuries, Ohrid has been a crossroads of cultures, traditions, and invasions.

Called the “Jerusalem of the Balkans,” Ohrid played a major role in the spread of Slavic Orthodoxy. At one time, it had 365 churches—one for each day of the year—dating from the 11th century.

The tour of Ohrid will consist of two main parts. First, we explore the Old City and the Samuil Fortress, perched high above the town, offering panoramic views of the lake and city below.

Going down the hill, we will visit Kaneo Bay, one of the most picturesque and photographed parts of Ohrid. The first-ever postcard of Ohrid featured the church of St. John, located here. The tour ends in the lower town, where the two parts of Ohrid and two religions meet—a true testimony to coexistence and tolerance.

City Tour of Skopje

After Ohrid, we head toward the capital of North Macedonia, Skopje. Today, Skopje is the largest economic, political, and cultural center of the country. With a fascinating history dating back to Antiquity, the city has been the center of many ancient and medieval kingdoms.

Known as “The Memorial City of Statues,” Skopje is filled with monuments and historical references. The Vardar River divides and connects the two faces of the city. On one side, you will see contemporary Skopje, rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1963.

The city is famous for its statues and monuments. The tour includes visits to the bridges, main statues, and the main square. We also visit the House of Mother Teresa and stroll through the Old Bazaar, where local vendors welcome visitors to try their products. The tour continues to the Skopje Fortress.

We will also explore the city’s religious heritage by visiting two symbolic buildings: the Church of St. Clement of Ohrid and the Mustafa Pasha Mosque.

Day 2Skopje - Pristina - Prizren - Tirana

Pristina, the capital and largest city of Kosovo, has been inhabited since the Old Stone Age by the Vinča culture, making it one of the region’s most interesting archaeological sites.

National Library of Pristina
Located near the city center, the library holds over 2,000,000 copies of materials dating from the 15th century. Architecturally, it is a classic example of Yugoslavian Brutalism with a mix of Byzantine, Ottoman, and Serbian styles. Since 1982, it has served as the National Library of Kosovo and remains a unique landmark.

In the city center, we will see the Newborn Monument and the Mother Teresa Cathedral. Pristina is also home to numerous mosques dating back to the 14th century, including the Carshia Mosque, built in 1321, the oldest mosque in the city.

City Tour of Prizren

Leaving Pristina, we head to Prizren, often called the cultural capital of Kosovo. Located on both sides of the Bistrica River and under the watch of Prizren Castle, the city played a key role in 19th-century Albanian history and politics.

We visit the House of the Prizren League and its Ethnographic Museum, marking the first serious steps toward independence and the creation of a parliament and government.

The tour continues to the Stone Bridge of Love and the Traditional Bazaar around the Sinan Pasha Mosque. Here, the streets are filled with handcrafts, perfumes, and local shops. Prizren is famous for its food, and the tour includes a traditional lunch.

After the tour, we drive back to Tirana, completing the journey.
