Tour of Theth and Shkoder in 2 days from Tirana – Hiking and Culture Trip

Leaving Tirana behind, we will head toward the north of Albania with the Castle of Rozafa as the first stop. Built on the top of a hill, in an overlooking position over the city, the castle has played a crucial role in Albanian History dating from the Antiquity and the Illyrian-Roman Wars. Its building history is also connected with one of the most fascinating legends of the Albanian Epos. 

After visiting the castle we will head down to the city of Shkoder. Famous for its typical architecture, sense of humor, and warm welcome, it has been one of the most important centers of Albania. Shkodra is also a city with a high religious tolerance. In a short distance, we can find a Catholic Church, an Orthodox Church, and a Muslim Mosque next to each other. 

Walking tour of the most interesting parts of Shkoder and strolling around the famous “Pedonale”. 

In the afternoon, we will leave Shkoder behind to head further to the north, toward Theth where we will spend the night. After driving on a windy road we will reach Theth where we will be welcomed by a local family in their guesthouse. 

After a delicious breakfast at the guesthouse, the beautiful Gurnas waterfall, located around a 45-min walk from the center of the village, will be our next destination. 

On the way back we will have the chance to also visit the Catholic Church of Theth and the Lock-in Tower. With more than four centuries of history, this building is the symbol of settling down the blood feuds in Albania.

After our visit of Theth, we will start our way back to Tirana, where our tour ends.
