Love Food? Go Local!

Join us for an unforgettable Traditional Albanian Cooking Class in the heart of Tirana! This immersive food experience invites you to explore the rich flavors of Albanian cuisine and gastronomy, guided by our caring host with nearly a decade of culinary expertise.

Throughout the class, you’ll learn the secrets behind some of Albania’s most beloved dishes, using local ingredients and time-honored techniques. Our host will ensure you feel at ease as you cook, connect with fellow food lovers, and share in the joy of creating and tasting authentic Albanian food.

Tour Details

The main aim of this Cooking Class is to combine the typical Albanian welcome, local food and some of the most interesting traditional local “rules” that will make your experience unique and unforgettable.

In addition, during the cooking class, you will be thought to create from scratch some of the most unique Albanian dishes. All of this in good company and good local wine and drinks.

In this cooking class, you will be tough to nicely prepare “Tave Kosi” the most iconic Albanian Dish, known as “Independence Dish” since it was the most favorite dish of Ismail Qemali, Albanian first Prime Minister.

“Lakror” is also the Albanian version of Byrek. Very special and of course delicious. You will also learn how to prepare a delicious homemade byrek.

In addition, traditional desserts will be also part of the cooking class and the tour also includes some homemade appetizers, beverages, and good wine and Raki.

Since it is a Family-based tour you will be lead in the cooking class by my sister, a non-professional chef but talented 🙂

Furthermore, some of the recipes are passed in the family between generations.

We try our best to pick up Bio – Organic Ingredients, starting from our garden herbs and veggies to homemade wine and Raki, offering to our guest above all the real Local Taste of Albania.

Itinerary

Cooking Classes in Tirana - A culinary Experience about Albanian FoodThe Menu

A Warm Albanian Welcome
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with the warmth typical of Albanian hospitality. The experience begins with a traditional offering of homemade jam and raki, a custom dating back to when the youngest bride or daughter would welcome guests into Albanian homes.

Introduction to Albanian Cuisine
Next, our caring host will guide you through the main ingredients and dishes that will be prepared during the class. The first dish is the famous Byrek, a beloved Albanian and Balkan specialty. Unlike other regional variations, this Byrek comes from Southeast Albania and is uniquely made with only two layers, with the filling nestled in the middle. The filling changes with the seasons, offering a delightful mix of fresh herbs, vegetables, ground beef, and dairy products.

Discovering Tave Kosi
The second dish is Tave Kosi, a classic main course found only in Albania. This mouthwatering dish features a blend of yogurt and tender beef, but there’s much more to discover about its preparation and history. Trust us—this dish will leave you wanting more!

A Sweet Albanian Finale
No Albanian meal is complete without dessert. Prepare to indulge in a unique Albanian treat, prepared in a distinctive way and bursting with flavor. It’s the perfect ending to your culinary journey!

A Stroll Through History
After cooking, you’ll take a leisurely walk through history, exploring the stories behind some of Albania’s most unique products. You’ll also have the opportunity to taste traditional Albanian drinks, each with its own fascinating legend.

Amazing workshop with great ambiance!

Sindi was an amazing host and a great cook! She taught us 3 Albanian dishes and we enjoyed some of her family’s home made wine (which was equally amazing!!). I would greatly recommend this workshop! If you have some time in Tirana, do not skip this workshop :)!
