Tour of Greece, Albania & North Macedonia – 5 Days

Departure from Tirana

We begin our journey from Tirana, Albania’s vibrant capital, in the morning. We travel south through the beautiful Albanian countryside towards Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its distinctive Ottoman architecture and historic character.

In Berat, we will explore the historic Berat Castle, offering beautiful views over the city and surrounding landscape. We will continue through the charming Mangalem and Gorica neighborhoods, admiring their traditional houses and picturesque streets. We will also see the historic Gorica Bridge, which connects the two historic sides of the city across the Osum River.

Drive to Gjirokaster

After exploring Berat, we continue our journey south towards Gjirokaster, another UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its stone architecture and rich historical heritage.

Upon arrival in Gjirokaster, we will discover the impressive Gjirokaster Castle, overlooking the city and offering magnificent views of the surrounding valley. We will also explore the charming Old Town, with its traditional stone houses, cobbled streets, and distinctive Ottoman architecture.

Overnight in Gjirokaster

After a day of exploring two of Albania’s most beautiful historic cities, we will overnight in Gjirokaster, ready to continue our journey into Greece.

Departure from Gjirokaster

After breakfast, we depart from Gjirokaster and cross the border into Greece, travelling towards Ioannina, a historic city situated beside Lake Pamvotida, known for its Ottoman heritage and beautiful lakeside setting.

Explore Ioannina

In Ioannina, we will discover the historic Arslan Pasha Mosque, an important landmark reflecting the city’s Ottoman past. We will also see Ali Pasha’s Tomb, connected to one of the most influential historical figures of the region. Our exploration continues to Ioannina Castle, one of the city’s most distinctive historical landmarks, surrounded by charming traditional streets and impressive views.

Drive to Meteora

Following our visit to Ioannina, we continue towards Meteora, one of Greece’s most extraordinary destinations, famous for its spectacular rock formations and monasteries dramatically perched on top of towering cliffs.

Upon arrival in Meteora, we will admire the magnificent Meteora Monasteries, a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site. Surrounded by impressive natural rock formations, these monasteries create one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Greece.

After discovering the historical and natural beauty of Meteora, we will overnight in the area.

Departure from Meteora

After breakfast, we depart from Meteora and travel north towards Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, renowned for its rich history, Byzantine heritage, and vibrant atmosphere.

Drive to Thessaloniki

We enjoy the scenic journey through northern Greece before arriving in Thessaloniki, where we begin discovering the city’s most important historical and cultural landmarks.

Explore Thessaloniki

Our exploration begins with the magnificent Holy Church of Saint Demetrius, one of the city’s most important religious and historical landmarks. We will then continue towards Aristotelous Square, the city’s central gathering place, known for its impressive architecture and lively atmosphere. We will also admire the iconic White Tower of Thessaloniki, one of the city’s most recognizable symbols, situated along the waterfront.

Overnight in Thessaloniki

After an afternoon and evening exploring some of Thessaloniki’s most iconic landmarks, we will overnight in Thessaloniki.

After breakfast, we continue our exploration of Thessaloniki with a visit to the impressive Arch of Galerius, a significant Roman monument commemorating Emperor Galerius and reflecting the city’s ancient heritage. Our day continues with The Umbrellas by Zongolopoulos, a striking contemporary art installation overlooking the Thermaic Gulf.

Departure for Korce

Following our morning exploration, we depart from Thessaloniki and travel towards Korce, Albania, crossing the border and enjoying the scenic landscapes of the region along the way.

Upon arrival in Korce, we will explore the city’s charming Historic Old Bazaar, known for its traditional architecture, cobbled streets, and lively atmosphere. We will also discover the Museum of Medieval Art, an important cultural landmark showcasing the rich artistic heritage of the region. Our exploration continues to the impressive Cathedral of Resurrection, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city.

Overnight in Korce

After discovering the cultural and historical highlights of Korce, we will overnight in Korce, ready for the final day of our journey.

Departure from Korce

After breakfast, we depart from Korce and travel towards Ohrid, crossing into North Macedonia. Known for its extraordinary natural beauty and historical significance, Ohrid is one of the most remarkable destinations in the Balkans.

Explore Ohrid

Upon arrival, we will visit St. Naum Monastery, a beautiful historical landmark situated in a picturesque setting near the Albanian border and the shores of Lake Ohrid. We will also enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Lake Ohrid, one of Europe’s oldest and deepest lakes, admired for its crystal-clear waters and surrounding mountain landscapes.

Drive to Tirana

After exploring the highlights of Ohrid and enjoying the beautiful lake scenery, we continue our journey back to Tirana, travelling through the scenic landscapes of North Macedonia and Albania.
