From start to finish I cannot fault this tour. Andi's knowledge about literally everything is unbelievable and Skerdi's amazing driving skills were second to none. We were picked up on time as previously arranged and due to it being a private tour, we had a part in choosing where to visit and how much time to spend at each location. By the end of the day we felt as though we had known Andi and Skerdi for years. They were so relaxed and welcoming and we genuinely laughed so much our bellies hurt. We contemplated renting a car and doing this on our own but we are so glad we went with the tour instead. I think I would have had a panic attack driving myself, however Skerdi was amazing. Everywhere we went Andi could translate for us (most people speak English but it's still nice to have someome who knows the language). Prizren is absolutely gorgeous (extremely cold in January by the way) and I think we would definitely go back to visit there again. Pristina wasn't as quaint as Prizren but I'm still glad we went there to see all the history there. Things to note.... Make sure you bring your passport for border control, and some Euros for when you are in Kosovo. We never had euros but managed to get some from ATM easily enough. If you do a bit of research before hand and there is anywhere in particular you want to see, Andi will do his best to get you there (time permitting)... Otherwise he will mostly stick to main highlights. We had an interest in particular things so our conversations and facts pointed out to us revolved around that. (I love churches and my husband loves learning about the history of the wars and independence). Unfortunately the bears were hibernating at the Bear Sanctuary (how rude haha) which we really wanted to see although it's not officially on the tour. I would highly recommend a restaurant in Prizren called Beska if you can hold off til then to eat. The food was absolutely delicious (a massive platter of meats, salads and breads which we all shared). Genuinely loved this tour and my husband and I will remember this day for many years to come. A massive thank you to Andi and Skerdi for sharing their day with us and being the best hosts ever!! 🙂

My guide Andi was absolutely fantastic. He is very well... read more educated and speaks fluent English.He also has a wealth of knowledge about Albania, its interesting history, and answered all of my questions! He is also a very friendly guy and very comfortable to be around. Also to note, Skerdi the driver was very patient , polite and welcoming. I would highly recommend Andi and his driver Skerdi for anybody traveling  to Albania.

Itinerary

1 Visit the Traditional Bazaar

Upon arrival, explore Kruja’s lively traditional bazaar. The bazaar is a mosaic of colorful handicrafts and souvenirs, where locals sell handmade items like rugs, silver jewelry, and wood carvings. Take a short break at a local café and immerse yourself in the warm hospitality.

2 Explore Kruja Castle and Skanderbeg Museum

After the bazaar, walk uphill to the Kruja Castle, Albania’s symbol of resistance against the Ottoman Empire. Inside the castle, visit the Skanderbeg Museum, which honors Albania’s national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, and his legendary 25-year defense of the country. 3 Visit the Ethnographic Museum of Kruja

Continue the tour inside the Ethnographic Museum, located in a beautifully preserved 17th-century house. Here, you’ll explore exhibits displaying traditional Albanian life, from agricultural tools to handcrafted textiles, and learn about the cultural heritage of the Kruja region.

4 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM Depart Kruja and Head to Shkoder

Your first stop in Shkoder is Rozafa Castle, perched on a hilltop overlooking the city and the meeting point of the Drin, Buna, and Kir rivers. The castle is steeped in ancient history and Albanian folklore, including the famous Legend of Rozafa, which adds a mystical element to its historical significance. Explore the castle’s ruins and enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding natural beauty.

6 Walking Tour of Shkoder’s City Center

After visiting Rozafa Castle, head to the city center for a walking tour of Shkoder. Stroll down Pedonale, the city’s famous pedestrian street lined with cafes, shops, and 19th-century architecture. Visit the landmarks showcasing Shkoder’s renowned religious tolerance, including a Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, and Mosque situated close to each other. The city’s vibrant atmosphere and friendly locals will make your tour memorable.

7 Explore Lake Skadar and Shiroke Village

A short drive will take you to Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans, shared between Albania and Montenegro. Visit the charming village of Shiroke, nestled on the lakeshore, known for its peaceful surroundings and local fish cuisine.
