Upon arrival, explore Kruja’s lively traditional bazaar. The bazaar is a mosaic of colorful handicrafts and souvenirs, where locals sell handmade items like rugs, silver jewelry, and wood carvings. Take a short break at a local café and immerse yourself in the warm hospitality.

2 Explore Kruja Castle and Skanderbeg Museum

After the bazaar, walk uphill to the Kruja Castle, Albania’s symbol of resistance against the Ottoman Empire. Inside the castle, visit the Skanderbeg Museum, which honors Albania’s national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, and his legendary 25-year defense of the country. 3 Visit the Ethnographic Museum of Kruja

Continue the tour inside the Ethnographic Museum, located in a beautifully preserved 17th-century house. Here, you’ll explore exhibits displaying traditional Albanian life, from agricultural tools to handcrafted textiles, and learn about the cultural heritage of the Kruja region.

The castle is steeped in ancient history and Albanian folklore, including the famous Legend of Rozafa, which adds a mystical element to its historical significance. Explore the castle’s ruins and enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding natural beauty.

5 Visit Rozafa Castle

Your first stop in Shkoder is Rozafa Castle, perched on a hilltop overlooking the city and the meeting point of the Drin, Buna, and Kir rivers. The castle is steeped in ancient history and Albanian folklore, including the famous Legend of Rozafa, which adds a mystical element to its historical significance. Explore the castle’s ruins and enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding natural beauty.

6 Walking Tour of Shkoder’s City Center

After visiting Rozafa Castle, head to the city center for a walking tour of Shkoder. Stroll down Pedonale, the city’s famous pedestrian street lined with cafes, shops, and 19th-century architecture. Visit the landmarks showcasing Shkoder’s renowned religious tolerance, including a Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, and Mosque situated close to each other. 7 Explore Lake Skadar and Shiroke Village
