Itinerary
UNESCO sites Kosovo and Heritage

First stopTirana - Pristina

We will leave Tirana and drive toward the north of Albania where we will cross the border with Kosovo. Relatively new, the highway to Kosovo from Albania has been a symbol of bringing the 2 countries closer together. Its scenery will change from the very urban area of Tirana to more rural and former mining-related cities. Situated around 260 Km from Tirana, Pristina is the Capital of Kosovo and, the largest city at the same time. In the Stone Age, it was inhabited by the Vinča culture, which makes Pristina one of the most interesting archeological and historical sites.

Second stopNational Library in Pristina

Built close to the center of Pristina, this library brings value with more than 2000000 material copies dating from the 15th century. Apart from the fascinating old history, dating from the 15th century, now the most interesting part is its architecture. As a classic example of Yugoslavian Brutalism architecture, it was made fun of at the time during its construction. Built as a mix of Byzantine, Ottoman, and Serbian styles, the library seems like a simplified summary of the whole city. Since 1982 it has been the National Library of Kosovo.

Third stop City tour of Pristina

We’ll continue to visit the city center of Pristina. In addition, you will have the chance to see the Newborn Monument and the Mother Theresa Cathedral. The city is also characterized by a variety of Muslim mosques dating from the beginning of the 14th century. For instance, most of the capital’s citizens practice the Muslim religion.  We’ll also visit the old part of the city and the Carshia Mosque which was built in 1321 and therefore the oldest one in Pristina.

Fourth stopThe House of the League of Prizren

Leaving Pristina we will head toward Prizren. It is also called the cultural capital of Kosovo. Situated on both sides of the Bistrica River, under the Prizren’s Castle, this city played a major role in Albanian history and politics in the 19th century.

Next, we’ll visit the House of the Prizren League. It is one of the most important buildings and political events of the 19th century in Albanian History. For the first time, the country had a serious action toward independence and forming a parliament and government. In addition, we’ll include a visit to the Ethnographic Museum inside the House of the League.

Fifth stopCity tour of Prizren

The next stop of our tour will be the “Stone Bridge of Love” and the Traditional Bazaar of Prizren. Situated around the Sinan Pasha Mosque, the historical part is one of the most interesting parts of Prizren. We will stroll on the streets of the old city visiting the traditional bazaar where handcrafts and perfume shops bloom on every corner.

We did all 3 tours (Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo) as U.K. government had just stated Montenegro was off the RED list and as we were in Albania we could see 4 countries in 5 days …A bit mad and as we were with our guide SKERDi I for all 3 trips each day we had a joke about seeing him in 12 hours as the days were quite long!

Great to see all the sights and have food from the region while you are their too which adds to the experience along with an informative guide.

3 quite different countries to visit as well. Wish we had more time but we will be back sometime.
Albania is not what most people hear about, and is very much growing with proud culture and recognition of its history convinced me this was a great up coming country with a huge future ahead of itself. We were recommended some fantastic local (Albanian) restaurants ( Mullixhiu) which we enjoyed Very much too!

From start to finish the booking process is very easy and would highly recommend booking if your in the area

Great trip loved it thanks again guys ! 🙌

With limited time in our hands we decided to go for a Day trip from Tirana to Pristina and Prizren Kosovo via Go as Local Tours.
Andi was our tour guide and he made us comfortable throughout the whole day.
We first made a stop at Pristina and head to Prizren for lunch and the tour. We liked both the cities however we preferred Prizren more.
Andi was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. He took care of us the whole time and made us feel so comfortable.
I recommend this tour to those who want to explore other cities / countries with limited time. Hopefully when we come back to Albania we get to explore the other regions of the country with the same tour company Go as Local.
Thank you Andi for making this trip amazing.

My husband and I wanted to visit another country while we were visiting Albania and came across this tour to Kosovo. This was a private tour with us and two guides (Andi and Skerdi). From start to finish I cannot fault this tour. Andi’s knowledge about literally everything is unbelievable and Skerdi’s amazing driving skills were second to none. We were picked up on time as previously arranged and due to it being a private tour, we had a part in choosing where to visit and how much time to spend at each location. By the end of the day we felt as though we had known Andi and Skerdi for years. They were so relaxed and welcoming and we genuinely laughed so much our bellies hurt. We contemplated renting a car and doing this on our own but we are so glad we went with the tour instead. I think I would have had a panic attack driving myself, however Skerdi was amazing. Everywhere we went Andi could translate for us (most people speak English but it’s still nice to have someome who knows the language). Prizren is absolutely gorgeous (extremely cold in January by the way) and I think we would definitely go back to visit there again. Pristina wasn’t as quaint as Prizren but I’m still glad we went there to see all the history there. Things to note…. Make sure you bring your passport for border control, and some Euros for when you are in Kosovo. We never had euros but managed to get some from ATM easily enough. If you do a bit of research before hand and there is anywhere in particular you want to see, Andi will do his best to get you there (time permitting)… Otherwise he will mostly stick to main highlights. We had an interest in particular things so our conversations and facts pointed out to us revolved around that. (I love churches and my husband loves learning about the history of the wars and independence). Unfortunately the bears were hibernating at the Bear Sanctuary (how rude haha) which we really wanted to see although it’s not officially on the tour. I would highly recommend a restaurant in Prizren called Beska if you can hold off til then to eat. The food was absolutely delicious (a massive platter of meats, salads and breads which we all shared). Genuinely loved this tour and my husband and I will remember this day for many years to come. A massive thank you to Andi and Skerdi for sharing their day with us and being the best hosts ever!! 🙂

Long day, but really wonderful!
The guys did such a great job. Before the trip, they were in constant contact to answer my questions and on the day of the trip they really went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly. They even indulged my request to visit the Pristina Bear Sanctuary, which made the day even longer but was really a wonderful experience.
