 What really made the tour enjoyable was Andi’s small considerations - I was recovering from a broken ankle and there was a long, steep incline to the castle. Andi matched my slower pace, stopping along the way to point out sights and history. Passports aren’t generally stamped at the border but he asked if I’d like him to request a stamp as souvenir. He easily accommodated my request to stop by a post office. Knowing I had been to Kruje and Berat with another company that didn’t supply much information, he seamlessly added information about both cities into the Prizren tour, as much of the Balkans’ history is linked.
 
 I highly recommend the Prizren tour, Go as Local in general, and Andi in particular. A highly professional company which made every aspect of the trip enjoyable.

   My husband and I wanted to visit another country while we were visiting Albania and came across this tour to Kosovo. This was a private tour with us and two... read more guides (Andi and Skerdi). From start to finish I cannot fault this tour. Andi's knowledge about literally everything is unbelievable and Skerdi's amazing driving skills were second to none. We were picked up on time as previously arranged and due to it being a private tour, we had a part in choosing where to visit and how much time to spend at each location. By the end of the day we felt as though we had known Andi and Skerdi for years. They were so relaxed and welcoming and we genuinely laughed so much our bellies hurt. We contemplated renting a car and doing this on our own but we are so glad we went with the tour instead. I think I would have had a panic attack driving myself, however Skerdi was amazing. Everywhere we went Andi could translate for us (most people speak English but it's still nice to have someome who knows the language). Prizren is absolutely gorgeous (extremely cold in January by the way) and I think we would definitely go back to visit there again. Pristina wasn't as quaint as Prizren but I'm still glad we went there to see all the history there. Things to note.... Make sure you bring your passport for border control, and some Euros for when you are in Kosovo. We never had euros but managed to get some from ATM easily enough. If you do a bit of research before hand and there is anywhere in particular you want to see, Andi will do his best to get you there (time permitting)... Otherwise he will mostly stick to main highlights. We had an interest in particular things so our conversations and facts pointed out to us revolved around that. (I love churches and my husband loves learning about the history of the wars and independence). Unfortunately the bears were hibernating at the Bear Sanctuary (how rude haha) which we really wanted to see although it's not officially on the tour. I would highly recommend a restaurant in Prizren called Beska if you can hold off til then to eat. The food was absolutely delicious (a massive platter of meats, salads and breads which we all shared). Genuinely loved this tour and my husband and I will remember this day for many years to come. A massive thank you to Andi and Skerdi for sharing their day with us and being the best hosts ever!! 🙂

What to Expect

Private Tour of Kosovo

The Tour of Kosovo is carefully built to include the most important highlights of the country. During the 4 Days, we will be able to visit the most important cities in the country, as an ultimate guide of what to do in Kosovo. We will go through antique history, UNESCO Sites, Religious Heritage, and Delicious food, and winemaking Culture.

Itinerary

First Day Pristina - Ulpiana - Gracanica Monastery (UNESCO Heritage) - Prizren (Overnight)

We will meet at 9:00 at the Hotel in Pristina to start the adventurous journey in the newest country in Europe, Kosovo. We will start with a walking tour to get introduced to Kosovo’s capital, Pristina. Walking tour of Pristina and visits on the National Library of Kosovo, “NEWBORN” monument, and the main part of the city.

The Day tour of Pristina will continue with the visit to one of the main UNESCO sites in Kosovo, the Monastery of Gracanica, build as the last church of King Milutin in 1321. It is often called its last masterpiece.

We will also dig deeper into the history of the archeologic site of Ulpiana. Situated a few kilometers from Pristina by visit ancient remains of Ulpiana a roman town in the province of Dardania populated by the Illyrian tribe of Dardanoi. After an earthquake it was rebuilt by Emperor Justinian hence was also known as Justiniana Secunda.

In addition, we will head toward to cultural capital of Kosovo, the city of Prizren.

Second DayPrizren - Decani Monastery - Mirusha Waterfall - Rahovec - Gjakova

The day starts with the Walking tour of Prizren where everybody finds the rich local traditions, unique architecture, good food, and a warm welcome from the locals.
Famous for its League of Prizren, also part of the Day Tour of Prizren, it can be called the most Historical City in Kosovo. Travel to Kosovo and join this Tour of Prizren to enjoy the whole magic of this beautiful city.

In addition, we will head to the beautiful Mirusha waterfalls for a stunning, wonderful natural landscape.

Next is the Monastery complex of Decani considered the largest medieval church in the Balkans containing the most extensive beautifully preserved fresco decorations, deservingly becoming part of UNESCO. The monastery was constructed by Serbian king Stefan Urosh buried in the chapel and completed by his son Stefan Dushan in 1335. The catholicon has striking similarities to a roman catholic church made by its Franciscan monk architect, Fra Vita, from the Montenegrin town of Kotor heavily influenced by Venice architectural style.

For wine enthusiasts, there is also the possibility of wine tasting and stay for overnight at Rahovec, The area is highly known for its authentic varieties of wine.

Overnight in Gjakova or Rural Rahovec.

Third DayGjakova - Peja - Rugova Valley

The day will start in Gjakova with the visit at Grand Bazaar thought to be the oldest in Kosovo also known as Ҫarshi, full of old houses & shops, a Turkish Bathhouse or Hamam, and the 16th-century Hadum Aga Mosque. We will continue to visit another very important religious complex, the Patriarchate of Peja constructed in the XIII century. It is composed of three small churches with beautiful frescoes. For its architectural and cultural values, it represents, is part of the UNESCO-protected Medieval Monuments of Kosovo.

For the night we will head toward Rugova Valley. A highly preserved natural habitat surrounded by pine forests and main area of skiing in Kosovo. Overnight in Rogova.

Fourth DayRugova - White Drini Park - Prekaz - Pristina (end of the Tour)

We will leave Rugova behind to head toward the white Drini Natural Park and the Radac waterfall for a pleasant Lunch stop surrounded by nature.

A testimony to this is the monumental complex of the Jashari family, at Prekaz, in honor of this family which in the recent 1999 conflict resisted till self-sacrifice of all members to give ethnic Albanian’s, a majority population in Kosovo the chance of self-determination.

The last part will be returning to Pristina in the afternoon and it is also the end of the tour.
