High Scardus Trail
Max People : 12

The High Scardus Trail beckons adventurers to discover one of Europe’s most breathtaking and untouched mountain ranges. Stretching across the Sharr Mountains (known as Scardus in Latin) in KosovoNorth Macedonia, and Albania, this long-distance hiking path highlights stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and endless opportunities for adventure. Covering over 495 kilometers, the Scardus Trail meanders through towering peaks, lush alpine meadows, Korabi Summit, and sparkling glacial lakes.

In addition, hikers can fully engage with the diverse plant and animal life of this pristine area while taking in sweeping views of the unspoiled wilderness. Each segment of the trail presents a distinct experience, from navigating ancient trade routes to visiting traditional villages where time appears to stand still. As you journey along, you’ll be welcomed by the warm hospitality and local customs of the mountain communities, providing genuine cultural experiences and regional specialties. The trail caters to both seasoned trekkers and those preferring a more relaxed pace, with options for multi-day hikes or shorter excursions. “As it takes in multiple countries and environments, we believe it has the preconditions to become a top hiking trail in Europe and even worldwide.”

Ekrem Hyseni, project manager for GIZ (German development agency)
