Planning a hiking adventure in the Albanian Alps but not sure whether to spend three or five days in the mountains?
Both options take you into the spectacular Accursed Mountains, with dramatic valleys, traditional villages, local guesthouses, and some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Albania.
The main difference is simple:
The 3-day tour is the perfect introduction to the Albanian Alps. The 5-day tour takes you deeper into the mountains and beyond the most famous destinations.
3 Days: Experience the Highlights
Our 3-Day Koman Lake, Valbona & Theth Tour is ideal if you have limited time but still want to experience the highlights of northern Albania.
The journey combines the spectacular Koman Lake ferry, the Valbona Valley, the famous hike from Valbona to Theth, and an exploration of Theth and its Blue Eye.
The highlight for many travelers is the hike between Valbona and Theth, a historic mountain route that has connected these communities for generations.
In just three days, you can experience some of the most iconic landscapes of the Albanian Alps without needing to spend a full week in the mountains.
5 Days: Go Beyond Theth & Valbona
If you have more time and want to experience a less-visited side of the Albanian Alps, our 5-Day Albanian Alps Hiking Tour takes you much deeper into the region.
Instead of focusing only on Theth and Valbona, the journey begins in Lepushe and the Kelmend region, continues toward Vajusha Peak, and takes you to Vusanje in Montenegro before reaching Theth and Valbona.
The extra two days aren’t simply more time on the same itinerary.
They allow you to discover remote mountain villages, additional hiking trails, and a wider part of the Accursed Mountains.
The journey also finishes with the spectacular Koman Lake ferry, making it a great way to experience the region from both the mountains and the water.
So, Which One Should You Choose?
Choose 3 Days If:
You have limited time in Albania and want to experience the most famous highlights of the Albanian Alps, including Koman Lake, Valbona, Theth, and the iconic Valbona–Theth hike.
Choose 5 Days If:
You have more time and want to go beyond the highlights.
It’s the better choice if you enjoy hiking, remote villages, and discovering less-visited parts of the mountains, including Lepushe, Kelmend, Vajusha Peak, and Vusanje in Montenegro.
Beyond Theth & Valbona
Theth and Valbona are famous for good reason, but the Albanian Alps are much bigger than these two destinations.
The longer you stay, the more you can discover: quiet mountain villages, old trails, alpine valleys, local communities, and landscapes that remain far from the busiest tourist routes.
That’s the real difference between the two experiences.
Three days gives you a taste of the Albanian Alps. Five days gives you time to go deeper.
Whichever you choose, you’ll experience a part of Albania that is defined by spectacular mountains, centuries-old traditions, and the warm hospitality of the people who call these valleys home.
